Pennywise
By Adam Blue | March 29, 2008
The new Pennywise album is out, and is pretty kick ass. Apparently, Epitaph wasn’t too enthusiastic when Pennywise wanted to start recording again. See, Pennywise has a certain sound, and throughout their ten or so albums, they’ve never changed their sound. Epitaph didn’t care for that. What’s funny is, Epitaph is an indie label. Pennywise never signed to majors because they’d prefer sticking to what they like to play. So this scenario is pretty sad. Pennywise then decided to split from Epitaph and release their album on MySpace records. MySpace is technically owned by Fox. Fox is the type of group Pennywise doesn’t like. They even have a song called ‘Fox TV’ that’s pretty hilarious. But the thing is, MySpace is letting Pennywise do whatever they want. MySpace is the perfect avenue for artists.
Here’s a live video of a song off their new album.
And they are playing in May with another favorite band of mine, Strung Out. I already have my tickets.
